The route, explained

One destination, different Alpine corridors.

The direct France–Italy corridor and a journey through Switzerland lead to different trips. Start with the route through Turin, then decide whether a Swiss stop is worth the extra connection. The named Milan station can change your onward plans.

Starting route

Through Turin

Paris → Lyon → Turin → Milan

Frecciarossa runs from Paris Gare de Lyon through Lyon and Turin to Milano Centrale. TGV also serves the Turin corridor, but bypasses Lyon and uses Milano Porta Garibaldi. Search Paris–Milan to compare the actual services.

Another way

A Swiss stop

Paris → Zurich → Milan

Combine travel to Zürich with a night there before heading to Milan. This deliberately adds a city and another travel day. Use the planner to inspect the Swiss–Italian connection rather than assuming it matches the direct service.

Two different Milan stations

Centrale and Porta Garibaldi are separate stations. If you continue to Rome or Naples, inspect both the international arrival and domestic departure. Prefer an easy interchange over a connection that only looks short on paper.

Lyon is service-dependent

The Frecciarossa stops at Lyon Part Dieu; the direct TGV bypasses Lyon. If you want to get off in Lyon, add it explicitly in the planner and check the result. A corridor line on a map does not guarantee a stop on every train.

Before you set off

Can I travel without a change of train?

Direct Frecciarossa and TGV services operate on the Paris–Turin–Milan corridor. Check the date-specific timetable and the arrival station, which differs between these services.

Is Zürich on the direct Turin route?

No. Zürich belongs to a separate Swiss itinerary. Choosing it changes the corridor and usually adds a connection, or a longer stay if you make it part of the trip.
