Schematic corridors · not railway track geometry

The route, explained

Across the Alps, then south to Naples.

Make the long journey part of the trip. Our starting route avoids a transfer across Paris and includes a night in Lyon. Turin is on the through corridor to Milan, rather than an extra change of train.

Starting route

Via Lyon, Turin and Milan

London → Lille → Lyon → Turin → Milan → Naples

Take Eurostar to Lille, continue to Lyon and stay overnight. The next stage is Frecciarossa through Turin to Milan, followed by an Italian high-speed service to Naples. Search starts with these connections and the Lyon stay.

Another way

A stop in Paris

London → Paris → Turin → Milan → Naples

Choose Paris if you want time in the French capital. This changes the first part of the trip and introduces the Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon transfer. Compare the onward Italian service before deciding where to spend the night.

Another way

Through Switzerland

London → Paris → Zurich → Milan → Naples

Add Zürich as a deliberate Swiss stop and continue towards Milan. This is a longer itinerary with more connections to examine. It suits a trip with time for another city rather than a race to Naples.

Keep the Milan station in view

A Frecciarossa arriving at Milano Centrale puts you at the main station for onward high-speed departures. Other international services may use Porta Garibaldi. Check the named stations, not just the city, before buying separate tickets.

Naples is an arrival, not a ferry terminal

Napoli Centrale is the rail destination. Travel to a ferry or a local train is a separate part of the day: leave space in your plans for that onward connection instead of treating arrival in Naples as arrival at the port.

Before you set off

Is there a direct London to Naples train?

No. This guide's main itinerary changes in Lille, Lyon and Milan, with a night in Lyon. Turin is a place on the Lyon–Milan corridor; it does not need to be a separate change.

Does the trip need an overnight stop?

The default route deliberately includes one in Lyon. Search your dates to see the actual departures and arrival times. You can change the stay or the intermediate stops in the planner.
