Norway's railways cross some of the wildest country in Europe. Lines climb over high mountain plateaus from Oslo to Bergen and Trondheim, and the northernmost line runs on to Bodø beyond the Arctic Circle.

The line climbs through forest to the treeless mountain plateau, crosses it high above the tree line, then descends to the fjords.
North to the Arctic
Oslo → Trondheim → Bodø
From Trondheim the line runs north through forests and valleys, crossing the Arctic Circle on its way to the coast at Bodø.
