Through Dresden and the Elbe valley

Berlin toPrague.By train.

Take the daytime corridor through Dresden, or break the trip there before continuing to Prague.

The route, explained

A river corridor worth seeing by day.

The railway south of Dresden follows the Elbe towards the Czech border. Start with a daytime journey if the view matters to you. Dresden can also be a deliberate stop, turning this into a trip through two cities rather than a single connection.

Starting route

Through Dresden

Berlin → Dresden → Prague

Direct international services connect Berlin and Prague along the Dresden corridor. The endpoint search does not require you to change in Dresden. Check the exact Prague station and the service offered on your selected day.

Another way

Spend a night in Dresden

Berlin → Dresden → Prague

Add Dresden as an overnight stop, then continue along the river the next day. Compare arrival and departure times to leave yourself useful time in the city. Check whether your chosen tickets allow the stopover you want.

Keep daylight in your comparison

If you choose this journey for the river scenery, the departure time and season matter. An evening train may cover the same corridor after dark. Look at the time spent south of Dresden as well as the final arrival in Prague.

Reservations and stations vary

Check reservation requirements with the operator for your travel date. Also inspect the named Prague station in the result: use that address for the local arrival plan instead of assuming every service has an identical stopping pattern.

Before you set off

Must I change trains at Dresden?

No change is required on a direct Berlin–Prague service. Adding Dresden as a stay creates a separate onward departure; simply seeing Dresden on the corridor map does not.

Can I visit Dresden on the way?

Yes. Choose the Dresden option to start a search with a night there. Check ticket conditions separately if you want to use a through ticket with a stopover rather than two tickets.
